Alcohol has become the good friend to many in today’s times, especially to those who’ve had hard days and bad nights. What often goes unnoticed is that more and more of us have succumbed to reaching out to bottles more often than people in tough times. And when you start to realize that you’re drawn towards to alcohol more and more each day and when you go out of your way just to get booze, then you have a problem.

Alcoholism occurs because of many reasons but it all starts with that first time. So to kick the need to be intoxicated just to gain temporary relief from all of life’s troubles, accept the fact that you have a problem and need to do something about it. Staying in denial gets you nowhere, so pull yourself together and allow those around you to help you out.

Once you’ve accepted the reality of your condition, go out and make the effort to going a support group such as Alcoholic Anonymous and stick to weekly meetings without skipping any of them. Maybe at first you may think that the meetings are a little pathetic and you could do without them, but think again, because you’re still depending on a substance to make your worries and fears go away, but at the end of the day, they’re still there aren’t they? Attend your meetings with an open mind and confidence; don’t be afraid to open up to those around you as they too share your problem. Hence, no one would think any less of you but instead, use your story to motivate themselves and you should do the same.
