If you are a drug user and you are considering drug detox from your home, there are a few issues that you must consider.

The first thing I would ask is that you must visit your doctor. You cannot, under any circumstances, consider a home detox for drug use, if you are a heavy drug user without telling your doctor what you plan to do. There are so many things that can go wrong because of the nature of withdrawal symptoms, that you will need help every step of the way.

So, you should only really consider home detox if you have a drug addiction that does not have serious withdrawal symptoms. If you are in many any doubt, you should consult your doctor.

Being addicted to drugs can ruin your life and the lives of others. What happens if a woman is a drug user and she becomes pregnant? Further drug use will risk the life of her child. So what does she do?

Drug detox during pregnancy must be treated with extreme caution. Although at this stage if the woman wants to carry on with the pregnancy, some form of Drug Detox becomes essential. To continue taking drugs during pregnancy would cause severe hazards to the unborn child as any substances consumed by mother can be carried into the fetal blood stream. This can result in severe abnormalities, developmental disabilities, severe mental retardation, even death. After birth, drugs can pass to the baby during breast feeding.

Abrupt withdrawal should be avoided, especially if the woman is on hard drugs such as heroin. There is less risk of miscarriage if detoxification is done during the second trimester. Miscarriage and premature labor risk is greatly reduced at this time.

Anyone can get off drugs. You could leave someone in a room for a week and make sure they didn’t leave, and they would be off drugs. The hard thing is keeping them off the drugs. That hurdle is what is crippling our society, it is what is encouraging the war on drugs and it is what is preventing families from having their son, daughter, mom or dad back. A key part to ensuring that someone is able to stay off drugs is to make sure that they are able to integrate back into society.

One of the byproducts of addiction is the fact that an addict completely isolates themselves from the rest of society. There are reasons behind this. Drugs and alcohol will cause a person to lie, steal, cheat and manipulate – all of these actions result in harming society in one way or another. At one point a person makes the decision to go against the morals and values of society. When they do this they are separating themselves from the rest of the world. After a person completes a drug and alcohol rehab, they are thrown back into society. They are thrown back into the group that they harmed and resisted for so long.
