Alcohol detoxification is a method of liberating the alcohol-influenced body, over a phase of time, to the extent that no more symptoms of alcohol exist in the body. The process of detoxification is mentally and physically excruciating and risky for an alcoholic. Hence, suitable care and supervision should be provided to the patient to help him retain his normal life.

Resigning from drinking is not an easy job for an alcoholic. When he quits drinking, the physical and behavioral symptoms of withdrawal follow. The patient requires help from the surrounding people and environment. People should cooperate with him and encourage him to pass through this painful process. The process of detoxification is, basically, the first stage of recovery from alcohol effects, for most of the patients. Various methods of alcohol detox are there to facilitate the alcoholics. It is up to the patient to decide, which method he thinks to be the best for him.
