Tainted cocaine can and will often kill the user. When you buy cocaine, it is cut and depending on the cutting agent, can be life threatening. Just face it, if you are the user, you are the guinea pig for the dealers to experiment with, to determine what will make them the most money.
In the last two years in Alberta and B.C. Canada alone there were 42 reported cases which cocaine was laced with levamisole. Levamisole, is a popular drug used by many farmers and veternarians for the eradication of internal parasites (worms) in animals. The irony here is that this is an expensive drug, and usually the cocaine dealers cut with inexpensive substances. One problem in the drug arena, is the dilemma finding out about problems such as this and documenting them. Many users who get sick, do not end up in the doctors office or the hospital, they do not seek help and usually just die.
Many times if the cutting agent is not toxic, the cutting agent will break down the immune system to where it can not fight off common diseases. Cocaine works on the blood pressure and causes many heart associated problems along with strokes, and cerebral hemorrhaging. Also the lack of oxygen from constriction of the blood vessels causes other body functions to deteriorate. Many cocaine users also suffer from liver and kidney problems.
In their attempt to make more money dealers will cut with anything handy. Sometimes they will experiment with a new cutting agent to see if it will produce a higher high or a high with a different feel. In this process, the user is the experimental guinea pig. Dealers know that you will not be a customer forever, that you will either end up in jail or will overdose, so they can experiment on you.
In the ever-present desire to make more money, readily available products like baby powder, baking soda, powdered sugar, starch and powdered milk are often used. In the desire to make the high a better high, sometimes powdered methamphetamine’s and powdered vitamins are used. If the dealer is being watched closely or under investigation, they will just use whatever is available and the user is the looser.
When you purchase cocaine you never know what you are purchasing because there are no quality controls in the illegal drug industry. You have to admit, you are not dealing with the most honorable and honest individuals in the world anyway!
